Oxfordshire councillors have approved plans to build a 1,000 home urban extension to Oxford in the city's green belt.

A full meeting of the county council voted last week to approve changes to the Oxfordshire draft structure plan under which land near Oxford United football club to the south of the city's ring road will be released for housing development.

Oxford city council supported the changes that affect mainly land belonging to Magdalene College. The 1 000 homes will be built in the Oxford green belt instead of at Bicester which was the structure plan working party's recommendation.

Large developers have been ‘stockpiling’ land into their own land banks with the knowledge that in future years as towns and city’s naturally expand planning will be granted.
This enables the shrewd private investor to emulate the fortunes that have been made by developers without tying up huge sums of money.
